Aside from our relationship with our parent(s), no other relationship impacts us more deeply than the one we have with our intimate partner. This relationship has the ability to significantly support and heal, or profoundly wound and reopen past hurts. In couples therapy, I work collaboratively with both partners to provide a safe space to understand each other more deeply, to strengthen communication, and to rebuild trust and connection.
In family therapy, together we explore patterns of communication, family roles, expectations and boundaries. Sessions often focus on strengthening parent–adolescent/youth relationships, improving problem-solving skills, reducing conflict, and increasing support skills appropriate to the developmental stage of the adolescent/youth. Common concerns that many families are navigating include mood or anxiety difficulties, behavioral issues, school-related stress, or changes related to family transitions. For families with kids under the age of 14, I work with parents and caregivers only in session. Please see Youth Counseling for more information.
For individual counseling, I work to provide a safe, private space to explore your thoughts and feelings while using evidence-based strategies to increase self-awareness, improve mental health, and support meaningful personal growth.
As a family systems therapist, I view parents and caregivers as the most important and impactful relationship to supporting kids, decreasing their anxiety, and increasing their sense of self-worth and safety. For my family clients with younger adolescents (age 14 and younger), I start work with just parents and caregivers in session. This creates a safe space to speak openly about what is happening in the home and to come up with strategies to help increase support and connection skills and decrease unwanted behaviors. None of us were born with a high level of parenting skills. We have only what has been modeled to us or taught.
For youth age 15-17, I hold both one-on-one sessions as well as sessions with one or both of the parents present.
I do not take any insurance. My private pay fee is $165 per 50 minute session. If this is a hardship, please let me know and we can discuss a sliding scale.
